Neighborhood Revitalization
Welston Villas Revitalization Neighborhood
Welcome to Welston Villas, a shining example of community transformation and resilience. Nestled in the heart of Warner Robins, this neighborhood has a rich history that tells a story of change, hope, and renewal.
A Historical Overview
Originally known as Old Town, this area was once home to duplexes built in the 1940s to accommodate enlisted soldiers during and after World War II. For years, these structures provided shelter and camaraderie, embodying the spirit of community. However, as time passed, Old Town fell into disrepair, becoming notorious for crime and neglect. In response, proactive measures were taken to revitalize the neighborhood, leading to the relocation of many of the original homes.
A New Beginning
In the early 2000s, the city of Warner Robins recognized the potential for revitalization. The area was resurveyed, and in 2005, the first lot was deeded to Houston County Habitat for Humanity. Over the past two decades, we have dedicated ourselves to transforming Welston Villas into a vibrant community. With nearly 40 new homes built for families with low to moderate incomes, our efforts have significantly improved the landscape and quality of life for residents.
The Heart of the Community
Today, Welston Villas is a testament to what can be achieved through collaboration, dedication, and community spirit. Lined with welcoming homes along Orchard Way and Old Mission Way, this revitalized neighborhood is a place where families can thrive, build memories, and foster a strong sense of belonging.
Looking Ahead
With only a handful of lots remaining, we are excited to continue this journey toward completion. Each home built is not just a structure; it represents a new opportunity and a fresh start for families who seek a safe and nurturing environment.
Join us in celebrating the transformation of Welston Villas, where history meets hope, and every home tells a story of resilience. Together, we can continue to uplift our community and create a brighter future for all.
